Playing with the Enemy: A phenomenal read

Congratulations to Cathy McKinley and the Atmore Public Library Board for selecting Playing with the Enemy as this community’s recommended read.

Playing with the Enemy is the best work of narrative non-fiction I have ever read. Numerous other cities and high schools have also selected Illinois author Gary Moore’s Playing with the Enemy as their book of choice. Atmore will now join readers in those towns and schools who will be among Americans who’ll already know this amazing story before the movie version is released.

Filming begins in May near Shreveport, La. The movie has attracted some of Hollywood’s biggest names to its cast and production crew. In a jaw-dropping truth-is-sometimes-stranger- than-fiction event, one of author’s own sons, actor Toby Moore, will play the leading role as Gene Moore, his own grandfather.

Were Playing with the Enemy fiction, it would be amazing; because the story is a factual account of the life of the author’s father, it is a phenomenal read. I encourage all book lovers to participate in the library’s community-wide read. The book was first published in hardback by Savas Beatie, LLC. The California press primarily publishes high-brow military non-fiction. The Penguin Publishing Group has released the book in paperback.

Playing with the Enemy is available at bookstores everywhere, as well as via Kindle and  Amazon.com. Internet savvy readers may learn more about the book  at www.PlayingWithTheEnemy.com.
