EA Varsity, JV teams pick up wins

The Escambia Academy Cougars took on area rival Sparta Academy Monday night and came away with a 56-43 win. The Cougars dominated the boards with 41 rebounds on the night. Darron McGhee had 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Keaton Maher had 14 points and 9 rebounds. Nate Smith also had a good night with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocked shots.

Defensively, Michael Hippa accounted for 4 steals and James White had 3. The two players scored 5 and 7 points respectively. Brandon Goddard scored 6 points.

The Junior Varsity boys picked up a win beating Sparta 31-28. Jordan Sasser led the scoring effort with 11 points, Paul Arnold had 10, Jacob Dean 6 and Blake Quimby and Garrett Kirk scored 2 each.

The Cougars defeated Pickens Academy Monday, January 4, by the score of 64-51.

Keaton Maher had a big game for EA scoring 23 points and pulling down 15 rebounds. Michael Hippa added 12 points and 5 assists while Jason White and Darron McGhee scored 7 each. McGhee had 8 rebounds, and White had four assists. Brandon Goddard scored 5 points and had 6 rebounds, Tanner Kirk scored 6 points and had 3 rebounds and Nate Smith scored 4 points.

The Cougars had 11 steals in the win.
