APL appreciates support
To the editor,
The Atmore Public Library’s summer reading program, Make a Splash …Read, was a great success with a total attendance of 550 children and 159 adults. The children checked out 1,433 books during the six-week program. Many of these books were purchased with funds from Poarch Creek Indians, Representative Alan Baker, City of Atmore, and United Fund. We are very grateful for their support!
We could not possibly have had such a large group without the help of our local media. Thank you, Atmore News, for all your coverage and thanks for letting the public know the time and date of each program. Also, thank you, Library Partners of Atmore, for sponsoring this year’s program. Thank you to everyone who supports Library Partners; your annual contribution to this wonderful organization provides programs, books and equipment we could not otherwise afford.
Thanks to Southern Pine’s research team and Jackie Word, director of Turtle Point, for the environmental programs they presented.
If you haven’t visited the library lately, please stop by and see us. Also, visit our website at www.atmorelibrary.com. Go to the children’s department to view the photos of all the programs.
Thank you,
Cathy J. McKinley, Director
