Please help the Youth Police Academy

This year’s 10th annual Youth Police Academy application period has ended. The 2010 academy has new and exciting events scheduled that will be sure to wow these cadets.
The Youth Police Academy is fully funded from donations and tuition and our operating budget is clearly limited. It’s very expensive to run a weeklong academy and it takes everyone working together to allow these kids the opportunity to experience the things that they do. Some instructors are paid by their department with others taking vacation time from their jobs to attend and share their knowledge at this academy.
Understanding the times we’re in right now makes it difficult for area companies, organizations and individuals alike to donate on a monetary basis. Here is a lists of items that can be donated to the academy for the students attending. If we all work together and donate just one item, it will make a great difference.
Snacks, (cheese crackers, cookies, etc.)
Sports drinks (Gatorade, vitamin water)
Plastic or paper cups
Plastic forks and spoons
Paper plates (Dixie or similar product – They hold up for our needs.)
Paper bowls (for cereal)
Water (plenty of water)
Pancake mix
Toilet tissue
Paper towels
Cereal (the kind kids eat)
Breakfast items such as honey buns, muffins, etc.
Napkins
You will be able to drop these items at any local police or sheriff’s office in Escambia County. Just mention that these items are for Youth Police Academy.
If you have any questions you may contact me at the Atmore Police Department, 368-9141.
