Trinity Episcopal celebrates Holy Week
As Trinity Church continues to celebrate Holy Week, their services are open to the community. Although Trinity currently has no full-time priest, the congregation remains strong and faithful, thanks in great deal to two well-known and much loved retired priests who are both still active in the Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast. The Reverend John Phillips and The Reverend Albert Kennington, who have been serving as supply priests at Trinity, will offer services this week.
John Phillips officiated at the church’s Palm Sunday service. Atmore native Albert Kennington will officiate at Trinity’s services on Maundy Thursday, April 1, and on Good Friday, April 2. Both of those services will begin at 5:30 p.m. John Phillips will return to Trinity on Easter Sunday to celebrate the Holy Eucharist at the 11 a.m. service. Founded in 1900 as the Easter offering of W.M. Carney, historic Trinity Church is believed to be the oldest public building in continuous use in Atmore. The church is located at the corner of 200 S. Carney and Church streets, directly behind Bondurant Hardware. For more information about Holy Week services, please call the church office at 368-5933.
