EA lose doubleheader to Marengo
Last week, the EA Cougars traveled to Linden, Alabama to play the Marengo Longhorns. In the first game, the Longhorns took little time scoring adding a run in the first inning. In the second, the Cougars tied the game when Jarett Hadley’s scored. The run proved to be EA’s only score while the Longhorns scored two additional runs giving them the 3-1 win. Keaton Maher, who pitched the entire game for EA, threw 6 strikeouts.
After losing the first game 3-1, the Cougars were set to play game 2 of their doubleheader. The Cougars batted first, but failed to score. The Longhorns found success early scoring their first five batters.
In the second inning, Jarett Hadley powered a hit over the fence for his first homerun of the season and cutting into the Marengo lead.
Marengo scored 3 runs later giving them an 8-1 lead.
In the fourth, Keaton Maher doubled to start the inning and was brought in by Hadley’s double.
In the fifth inning, the Cougars scored Jon Dean, Brandin Goins, Keaton Maher, and Jarret Hadley. The Cougars cut the lead to 10-6 and held the Longhorns scoreless in the firth.
It wasn’t until the sixth inning that Marengo would seal the win.
After a scoreless sixth inning for EA, the Longhorns scored 9 runs giving them a 19-6 win.
