Services honor Tuckers (with photo gallery)
The Reverend Monroe and Sister Nora Tucker were honored with a series of special services at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church last week.
Tuesday, February 9, was Sis. Tucker’s appreciation service. The services that followed Wednesday through Friday nights and Sunday morning and afternoon were in appreciation of the couple’s 26 years of service to Mt. Olive.
The theme for the services was “The man of God feeding the people of God with knowledge and understanding.”
Scripture for the services was “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” (Jeremiah 3:15)
In the Sunday afternoon service, Rev. Tucker was escorted by Nakiedra Johnson. Sis. Tucker was escorted by the Rev. Brian Johnson.
Sis. Vanessa Boggan served as director of order.
The Rev. Joe Hayes, Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, brought the message. Several members served on committees for the week:
Food committee – Sis. Liza Wilson, chairperson; Sis. Bessie Johnson, co-chairperson Decorating committee – Sis. Liza Wilson
Finance committee – Deacon John Stargell, Deacon Gordon Brooks Sr., Sis. Betty Boggan, Sis. Joanne Jefferson.
