The Ladies of Essence annual Mardi Gras parade is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, at 1 p.m. The parade begins at city hall, goes to Church Street, right on Main, right on Ashley, left on Carver, then left on Martin Luther King Avenue to Houston Avery Park.
The Habitat Hammers will take on the Harlem Ambassadors Saturday, Feb. 13, 7 p.m., Escambia County High School gym. Proceeds will benefit Escambia County Habitat for Humanity.
Members of the Habitat Hammers team are local folks – Dale Johnson, Daniel Alaniz, Steven Johnson, John Stallworth, Mark Chapman, Shaun Golden, Isaac Lopez, Lewis English, Lee Fountain, Patrick Craft, Quinton Curry, Jennifer Dorriety, Rodney Owens, Mal McGhee, Josh Martin, Wilfred Davis, Jody Singleton, and Alaina Arnold.
The Habitat Hammers will be coached by Lou Vickery. Referees will be Atmore Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sheryl Vickery and State Rep. Alan Baker.
Advance tickets are $6 for youth (5-18); $7 for adults; children 4 and younger admitted free. Tickets at the door are $7 for youth (5-18); $8 for adults; children 4 and younger admitted free. Tickets are available at Atmore News, Chamber of Commerce, Jus Because, Swift Supply, and United Bank.
Trinity Episcopal Church will celebrate Shrove Tuesday with their annual Pancake Supper on Tuesday, February 16. Open to the public, the supper will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the parish hall adjacent to the church. Hot pancakes with syrup, sausage and juice will be served. The cost at the door will be $3 for adults and $1.50 for children 12 and under.
Trinity, which is currently without a full time priest, is happy to announce that Atmore native The Reverend Albert Kennington, who now lives in Fairhope, will officiate at its Ash Wednesday Holy Eucharist service to be held on February 17 at 5:30 p.m.
