Joseph Colvin Davis
Mr. Joseph Colvin Davis, age 79, of Bratt, Fla. passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Pensacola, Fla. He retired from Monsanto-Solutia as a fireman. He loved farming, was an avid hunter fisherman and was an active member of The First Baptist Church of Bratt. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Joseph Lee and Agnes Myrtle Merritt Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Elton Davis.

Mr. Davis is survived his wife of fifty-nine years, Lavelle Faircloth Davis; daughter, Debbie Hester, both of Bratt; a son, Tommy (Maria) Davis of Enon, Fla.; three grandsons, Hunter (Mandy) Davis, Chase (Kelly) Davis and Cory Hester; great-grandson, Hudson Davis;  a sister, Carolyn (Aaron) Steele and many nieces and nephews, church family and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 7, 2013 at 10 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delbert Redditt and Rev. Tim Hawsey officiating. Burial followed in Godwin Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Edward Gilman, James Amerson, Romeo Coleman, Fred Moore, Robert Gilman, and Terry Blanton.

Honorary pallbearers were Jessie Wood, Howard Hanks, Jim Bolerjack, Leroy White, Clark Ziglar, Jerry Haynie and John (Junior) Spence.

Family received friends Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Peggy Gibson Fowler
Mrs. Peggy Gibson Fowler, age 74, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in Pensacola, Fla. She was a native of Walnut Hill, Fla. and a resident of Bratt, Fla. since 1962. She attended Bratt First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Pat Fowler and Tim Fowler; parents, O.D. and Ruby Gibson and one brother, Otis Gibson.

Mrs. Fowler is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Dewey Fowler of Bratt; one son, Harvey (Marie) Fowler of Monroeville, Ala.; one daughter, Tammy Fowler (Jeremy) Raybon of Excel, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Sue Kitzinger (Mike) of Camden, Ala.; four brothers, Leo (Janice) Gibson of Caldwell, Ohio, Billy (Sue) Gibson of Pace, Fla., Leon Gibson. and Gary Gibson, both of McCullough, Ala.; five sisters, Audrey (Joe) Ward of Gonzalez, Fla., Nola (James) Burnham of Mossey Head, Fla., Linda (Ronnie) Hickman of Caldwell, Julia Foster of McCullough and Joyce Neuss of Huntsville, Ala.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 7, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. C.L. Langford officiating.

The family received friends Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Tim Wyatt, Sam Stewart, Dewayne Glick, Wayne Harrison, Todd Wiggins, Jeremy “Bobo” Fowler and Sean Bayles.

Betty Sue (Mackie) Lee McPherson
Mrs. Betty Sue (Mackie) Lee McPherson, age 77, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at her home in Walnut Hill, Fla. She was born at her family’s home in Huxford.  She graduated from Flomaton High School.  She retired from First National Bank in 1983.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Charles W. McPherson, of 58 years and her parents, Noah E. and Daisey Wade Lee.

Mrs. McPherson is survived by her son, Larry (Mary) McPherson; two grandchildren, Patrick Wayne McPherson and Charleigh Victoria McPherson; her brothers, John J. Everette Lee, Paul E. (Everlene) Lee, and Samuel T. (Shirley) Lee; her sisters, Mary L. Lee (Jesse) Lassiter, Faye Lee (Winston) Godwin, and Margie N. Lee (Vernon) Parker.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Huxford Community of Christ Church with Elders Cary Gilbert and Glenn Waldrop officiating. Interment followed at Huxford Community of Christ Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve Godwin, Donald Lee, Tim Lee, Doug Black, Darby Black, and Larry Pope.

The family received friends Wednesday, March 5, 2014, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Huxford Community of Christ Church.

David Allen Wingard
Mr. David Allen Wingard, age 63 of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Talladega, Ala. He had worked at Wingard’s Jewelry Store as jeweler. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to John Graham Wingard and Margaret Garrett Wingard. He was a graduate of Escambia County High School.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Graham Wingard and a sister, Linda Siders.

Mr. Wingard is survived by his mother, Margaret Wingard Banks of Atmore; two sons, John David Wingard of MacClenny, Fla. and Cody Allen Wingard of Fort Collins, Colo.; one daughter, Michelle Wingard of Milton, Fla.; one brother, John Larry Wingard of Alabaster, Ala.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Charles Andrew Lambert
LtCol. Charles Andrew Lambert, age 76, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Covenant Hospice Wing at West Florida Hospital, Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Vocation, Ala. He had been a resident of Molino, Fla. for thirty years. He was a graduate of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Perkinston, Miss. and Florida State University. He was also a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff School. He was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Pensacola. He was employed by Gulf Power Company, 25 years; past president of American Cancer Society (Pensacola Chapter), Pensacola Chamber of Commerce and Florida State Alumni Booster Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lilla Lambert and his youngest son, Todd Anthony Lambert and his sisters, Joyce Westmark and Ellen Daniels

LtCol Lambert is survived by his wife, Linda J. Lambert; sons, Dr. Mark Andrew Lambert and his wife, Pamela and their daughter, Isabella; Charles Douglas Lambert and his wife, Karen and their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth and Jody Harper who was like a son to him.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at NAS Chapel with the Rev. Jim Reece officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p. m. at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Spiva, Lee Heinrich, Ed Addison, Gordon Van Mol, Jody Harper, Steve Salter, Don Patterson, Tommy Cushing, Wayne Westmark, Jay Westmark, David Westmark and Dale Powell.

Leslie Jackson “L.J.” Crutchfield
Mr. Leslie Jackson “L.J.” Crutchfield, Jr., age 88, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Bay Minette, Ala. He was born to the late Leslie Jackson Crutchfield, Sr. and Lula Bell Myrick Crutchfield. He was a WWII veteran and served in the Pacific on the U.S. New York. He had retired from Civil Service where he had worked at Brookley Field and NAS, Pensacola, Fla. He attended The Church of the Living God in Atmore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jewel McNeil Crutchfield; second wife, Frances Odom Crutchfield and one brother Melvin Crutchfield.

Mr. Crutchfield is survived by his son, Larry E. (Pennie) Crutchfield of Warner Robins, Ga.; daughter Melanie Bell (Kim) Crocker of Riviera, Texas; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great- grandchild and his family and friends.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton, Ala.

Martha Luverne Dunn
Mrs. Martha Luverne Dunn, age 76, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 in Perdido, Ala. She was a native and life long resident of Perdido. She was a caregiver for the elderly and a dear friend to all.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, sisters and brothers.

Mr. Dunn is survived by her son, Benjamin Marlin (Amada) Harrison of Perdido; two daughters, Wanda Harrison (Roger) Hadley and Viola Dunn (Ronnie Ryland), all of Perdido; one step-daughter, Charlotte Rubio of Opelika, Ala.; dear friend, Nell Quik (loved like a daughter) of Atmore, Ala.; dear friend, Ruby Wilson of Perdido; nine grandchildren, Dawn Williams, Josey Hadley, Conan Harrison, Cissy Harrison, Raven Jolie Ryland, Candace Ryland, Chad Rubio, Becky Hadley Newsome and Jason Hadley; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating. Burial followed at Perdido Baptist Cemetery.

The family received friends Monday, March 10, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Lois Marybelle Boyette Huckabee
Mrs. Lois Marybelle Boyette Huckabee, age 98, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Pine Tree Lodge Nursing Center in Longview, Texas. She was born in Logan, Texas to Jackson Ezekiel Boyette and Bessie Elizabeth Robe. She had been employed by the Escambia County Alabama Board of Education as a bus driver. She was also a well known seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings and their spouses, Andrew (Drew) Jackson Boyette, Lucille and Earl Harper, Travis and Esta Beoy7ette, Marie and Vernon Gray, Jackie and Norman Pepper, Wynita and Will Cook and Hollis Boyette.

Ms. Huckabee is survived by her daughter, Judy Ann Downing and son-in-law, Larry Charles Downing of Longview; nieces and nephews, Sherian and Charles Akin of Longview; Nancy Chevallier of Tatum; Barbara Daniels, Carolyn and Mike Lee, all of Atlanta, Texas, Kenneth and Joyce Pepper of Arkansas, Butch and Bobbie Wilson of thousand Oaks, Calif and Patty Blanton of Alabama.

Funeral Services were held Monday, March 10, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home with graveside services held at Memory Park Cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday, March 9 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home.

Daniel Wendell Kelly
Mr. Daniel Wendell Kelly, Sr., age 86, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 in Century, Fla. He was a native of Bratt, Fla., former resident of Pensacola, Fla. and a resident of Bratt for most of his life.

He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Wendell Kelly, Jr.; a daughter, Melody Joan Kelly; mother, Edna Kelly; sister Leonora Blackmon; brother, Leonard Jackson Kelly, Jr. and granddaughter, Susan.

Mr. Kelly is survived by his niece, Florine Wiggins of Bratt and other nieces and nephews; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Ricky Peebles and Rev. Theron Collingsworth officiating.

The family received friends Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 2 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Doris Wade Gandy
Mrs. Doris Wade Gandy, age 87, a native of Ochlocknee, Ga., and former resident of Pensacola, Fla., passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Atmore Community Hospital. She had been employed by Bell Telephone as Director or Public Relations. She was an active member of the Pioneer Club.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Merle Matthews, Anne Edwards, Cleo Hagan, Dora Hackney, Sadie Shuman, Dot Carter and her only brother, Wallace Wade; her parents John Arthur and Nora Wade and her husband of 56 years, Robert Cecil Gandy.

Mrs. Gandy is survived by her sister, Lysbeth Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; twenty-one nieces and nephews, including her Godchild and special namesake, Doris Dale Ash, Hooper W. Matthews, III of Atmore; Cindy Colville of Spanish Fort, Ala.

She was a charter member of Pensacola’s Burgess Rd. Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark Cooley officiating. A visitation luncheon in the church fellowship hall was held immediately following the service. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.

Beryl Elizabeth Dunn Robinson
Beryl Elizabeth Dunn Robinson, age 84 of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, March 08, 2014 at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dothan, Ala. She was born in Baldwin County, Ala. to the late Clyde and Lizzie Dunn.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marshall Robinson; sister, Clydine Waltman; and brothers Mack, Jack, and Malvin Dunn.

Mrs. Robinson is survived by one son Ron (Rose) Cooper of Dothan; daughter Faye (Doug) Owens of Hilliard, Ohio; granddaughters, Debbie Bennett, Sharilyn Owens, and Robin Braswell; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Martha Mae Wesley
Mrs. Martha Mae Wesley, age 71, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton, Ala. She was born in West Palm Beach, Fla. to the late Melvin and Eva Mann. She was employed many years as a domestic serving many families in Navarre Beach, Fla. She then worked with Dairy Queen Foods in Brewton for 46 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Baptist Church of Pollard.

She was preceded in death by three children, Edward Earl, Wilma and Catherine Wesley.

Mrs. Wesley is survived by seven children, Alphonso (Elmira) Wesley, Cynthia (Fredrick) Allen, both of Brewton, Daisy (Antonio) Lindsay of Mobile, Ala., Robert (Peggy) Wesley of Pensacola, Fla., Patrick Wesley of Greenville, S.C., Anthony (Keisha) Quinley and Sherrica (Ronteil) Collins, both of Brewton; twenty-six grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret (Richard) Washington; one devoted sister-in-law, Barbara Wesley of Flomaton, Ala.; one devoted brother-in-law, Ernest Wesley of Century, Fla.; devoted and special niece, Ashley Clay of Deere Park, Ala. and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church in Pollard with Pastor Allen Miller officiating. Interment followed in Pollard Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Deangelo Wesley, Douglas Walker, LeDarryl Wesley, Alphonso Wesley, Brian Wesley, Prenthice Wesley.

Cleo Knight
Mr. Cleo Knight, age 83, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014. He was born in Vredenburgh, Ala. and raised by his beloved grandmother, the late Carrie Parker. He owned and operated his landscaping business until retirement.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn L. Knight; son, Eddie Lee Knight; daughter, Krishandra Lyons and grandsons, Brandon Knight and Allen Kennedy.

Mr. Knight is survived by a special friend and companion, Janice Smiley of Brewton; children, Robert Lee Longmire, Charlie (Linda) Knight, Ricky Jackson, Phillip (Tommeitra) Jackson, Jamilia Smiley-Knight, all of Brewton, Carrie Kennedy of Prattville, Ala., Harvest Knight of East Orange, N.J., Brenda (Robert) Laster, Cleo (Phyllis) Knight, Jr., all of Jamaica, N.Y., Regina Knight, Harland Mitchell, all of Montgomery, Ala., Pat Longmire of Hillsborough, N.J., Vickie Longmire of St. Louis, Mo., Diane (Bryan) Sallier of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Christopher (Elizabeth Rowell) Lewis of Troy, Ala., Herman Lee Carrol of Detroit, Mich.; twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren; Gary and Carolyn Trimble of Brewton.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Second St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Brewton, with Pastor Kenneth Watson officiating. Interment followed at Springhill Cemetery, East Brewton.

Pallbearers were Eddie L. Knight, Jr., Scott Knight, Arthur Watson, Humphrey “K.C.” Watson.

Flower bearers were family and friends.

Leonard Culliver
SGM (Ret.) Leonard Culliver, age 69, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014. He was born to Hoover and Mary S. Culliver. He was a graduate of Southern Normal School. He served in the United States Army for twenty-seven years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hoover Culliver.

Mr. Culliver is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Minnie R. Culliver of Daleville, Ala.; daughter, Marla R. (Terry) Brown of Roanoke, Va.; son, Marcus D. (Charlotte) Culliver of Atlanta, Ga.; grandsons, Demarcus A. Glass of Roanoke, Ryan D. Culliver of Atlanta, Michael A. Golas of Ellsworth AFB, S. D., Christopher L. Culliver of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; mother, Mary S. Culliver, of Brewton, Ala.; brothers and sisters, Willie Culliver, Casey Culliver, Carl Culliver, all of New Orleans, La., Hoover Culliver, Jr. of Detroit, Mich., Billy (Tracye) Jackson of Columbia, S. Jacob “Cob” Lisenby
Mr. Jacob “Cob” Lisenby, age 19, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Cantonment, Fla. He was a native and life long resident of Atmore, Ala. He was a 2012 graduate of Northview High School. He was an employee of Rowland’s Tires of Atmore. He was an awesome friend, loved everyone and loved to work on vehicles. He attended the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey and Adell Lisenby.

Mr. Lisenby is survived by his father and step-mother, Dale and Missy Lisenby of Brewton, Ala.; mother and step-father, Angie and Marlin Gunn of Atmore; one brother, Jeremy (Monica) Lisenby of Atmore; one nephew, Lane Lisenby of Atmore; two step-brothers; four step-sisters; grandparents, Leon and Rose Langley of Atmore; very special person, Christopher and Leigh Ann Rowland; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Pickern officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
