Susan Helen Duthie
Mrs. Susan Helen Duthie, age 50, of Atmore, Ala., passed away October 28, 2013 in Atmore. She was born in Braintree, Mass. to William M. and Marie E. Duthie. She attended Poarch Baptist Church. She was pursuing a degree in nursing.

She was preceded in death by her father, William M. Duthie and sister Nancy Duthie.

Mrs. Duthie is survived by a son, Matthew K. Garrison and a daughter, Logan Aundrea Garrison, both of Atmore; her mother, Marie E. Duthie of Atmore and four brothers, Lawrence (Susan) Duthie of New York, James Duthie of New Hampshire, Paul (Marylou) Duthie of Massachusetts and John (Christine) Duthie of Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

Memorial services were held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leo Luker and Rev. Lawrence Duthie officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes or Heart Association.

Mildred Ione Bethea Boutwell
Mrs. Mildred Ione Bethea Boutwell, age 86, of Flomaton, Ala., passed away at her home Thursday, October 31, 2013. She was born in Century, Fla., but had been a member of the Flomaton community for her lifetime. She was a member of Flomaton First Baptist Church where she was on the Bereavement Committee. She was also active in the First United Methodist Church of Flomaton where she served on many committees, as M.Y.F. Leader, taught Sunday school and was a devoted church and choir member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Estelle Sturdivant Nelson; brother, George Albert Nelson; her first husband, Thomas Rabun Bethea, Sr. and grandson, Brandon Christopher Agerton.

Mrs. Boutwell is survived by her husband, Herbert C. Boutwell, Jr. of Flomaton; sons, Travis Kent (Peyton) Bethea of Brewton, Ala. and Thomas Rabun Bethea, Jr. of Flomaton; daughters, Lois Katherine (Kenneth) White, Geneva Dawn (Ken) Cooper and Darla Nette ‘Totsie’ (Clifton) Mims, all of Atmore, Ala., Jodi (Jimmy) Broach of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; brother, Arthur Ray Nelson of Foley, Ala.; sister, Geneva Feltman of Lexington, S.C.; step-sons, Herbert Chauncey (Brenda) Boutwell, III, Joseph Phillip (Rhonda) Boutwell and John Tilton Boutwell, all of Pensacola, Fla., Timothy Wayne (Connie) Boutwell of White Hall, Ark., Benjamin Daniel (Cheryl) Boutwell of Century, Fla.; step-daughter, Mary Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ (Dean) Wilkerson of Bonaire, Ga. and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 4, 2013 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Flomaton with Rev. Dustin Stockstill and Dr. Jerry Keese, officiating. Interment followed in Flomaton Cemetery, Flomaton, Ala.

The family received friends Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Flomaton

Pallbearers were Brandon Coburn, Joshua Mims, Caleb Bethea, Mack Broach, Alvin Feltman, Chase Boutwell, Joe Brantley and Emanuel Bethea.

Flomaton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Steven DeWayne Boatwright
Mr. Steven DeWayne Boatwright, age 47, of Excel, Ala., passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Ala. He attended the Excel Church of Nazarene. He worked with Georgia Pacific as a maintenance mechanic. He served in the United States Army from 1984 to 1988. He was also a member of the Excel Masonic Lodge 655.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Aubrey and Annie Lou Boatwright and Carey Alfred Lewis and Lydia Lewis.

Mr. Boatwright is survived by his wife, Sherry Boatwright of Excel; sons, Steven Boatwright and Sean Boatwright both of Excel; mother and father, Bobby Joe and Carolyn Boatwright of Range, Ala.; sister, Donna DeLane Joyner and husband William of Brewton, Ala.; niece, Amber Wilson and husband Dusty of Brewton and his great nieces, Karsyn Wilson and Kerigan Wilson, both of Brewton, Ala.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Wood officiating. Burial followed in Excel Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family received friends Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jimmy Presley
Mr. Jimmy Presley, age 75, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 in Bay Minette, Ala.

He was a native of Lottie, Ala. and a life-long resident of Perdido, Ala. He was retired from Monsanto Corp. He was a hunter and loved to fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Sally Presley; one son, Kent Presley and a brother, Frank Presley.

Mr. Presley is survived by his former wife, Carolyn Presley of Bay Minette; four sons, Faron (Lynn) Presley of Bay Minette, Alan (Sophie) Presley, Troy Presley and Tyson Presley, all of Perdido; five daughters, Kathy Smith, Pam (Tyland) Forbes and Tonya Presley, all of Perdido, Rita (Billy) Boatwright and Brenda Bruch, all of Clanton, Ala.; two brothers, Wayne (Tootsie) Presley of Lottie, Ala. and Don (Virginia) Presley of Perdido; fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Boatwright officiating. Burial followed at the Presley Cemetery.

The family  received friends Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Wesley Smith, Jesse Smith, Leslie Smith, Donald Presley, Faron Presley II and Tyler Davis.

Donald Alvin Respress
Mr. Donald Alvin Respress, age 57, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 in Mobile, Ala. He was born in Atmore to the late Amon and Evon Dannelley Respress. He was a farmer most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Thomas A. Respress and Tony Respress.

Mr. Respress is survived by his sons Douglas Respress, David (Julie) Respress and Adam Respress all of Atmore; one brother, Michael (Joyce) Respress of McCullough, Ala. and three sisters, Jean (Jerry) Mason and Susan (Frank) Maguire , all of Atmore, Janice (Larry) Kyser of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Taylor, Preston, Kayleigh, Kaitlynn, Kristina, Sean and  Addison.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating. Burial will follow in McCullough Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Hilrey “Don” Entrekin
Mr. Hilrey “Don” Entrekin, age 84, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 in Mobile, Ala. He was a native of Century, Fla. and has resided in Brewton, Ala, since 1994. He was a member of Norris Masonic Lodge #301, Scottish Rite and Shiners’ Abba Temple, Mobile.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Lena Entrekin; brothers, Vernon Entrekin and Aubrey Entrekin and sister, Ethel McElvoy.

Mr. Entrekin is survived by his wife, Lillie Entrekin of Brewton; one son, James V. Entrekin of West Carrolton, Ohio; three daughters, Nicole Santoro of Greenfield, Ohio, Donna (George) Ferenczi of Trotwood, Ohio and Patricia Santoro of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Rusty Burnham officiating. Burial followed at the Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

The family received friends Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 9 a.m. until service time at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were  James Entrekin, Charles Proctor, Justin Proctor, Lloyd Proctor, Nathan Gillis and Bernie Raines.

Honorary pallbearers were the Masons.

Lucy Smith
Mrs. Lucy Smith, age 77, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at Opp Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by Christian Memorial Funeral Home.

Joe “Big Jim” Sharp
Mr. Joe “Big Jim” Sharp, age 82, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013. He was born in Evergreen, Ala. to the late Thomas and Josephine Sharp. He retired after being employed with Scott Paper Company for twenty-seven years. He was a Mason and had been a Master of a Lodge for over 25 years. He held the position of Worshipful Master of Eureka Lodge #953, Atmore and was a former member of Royal Arch Masons where he served as Officer of Excellent King and treasurer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and one son, Sylvester Sharp, Sr. both of Brewton.

Mr. Sharp is survived by his wife, Johnnie Mae Fields of Atmore; two daughters, Annie (Eugene) Edwards of Atmore, Kathy (Leo) Mitchell of Decatur, Ala.; one adopted granddaughter, Catina (Darrin) English of Walnut Hill, Fla.; one special niece/daughter, Sharon (Dennis) Malabet of Atmore, Ala.; three granddaughters, Venessa (Kenneth) Boggan and Lafesacalia Sims of Atmore and La’Mya Sharpe of Decatur; five grandsons, Sylvester Sharp, Jr. of Atmore, Jeremy Sharp of Brewton, Ala., Eugene Edwards, Jr. and Antonio Sharp, both of Atmore and Anthony Stonewall of Decatur, Ala.; five great-grandchildren, Tykirah and Kentrae Boggan of Atmore, Devontae Sharpe of Bay Minette, Ala., Jeremiah McMillian of Montgomery, Ala. and Jeremy Sharp, Jr. of Brewton; two brothers. Thomas (Nancy) Sharp of Pensacola, Fla. and George (Rosie) Sharpe of Freemanville, Ala.; one sister-in-law, Eva Johnson of Freemanville and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with Bishop Tony McAroy, officiating and Pastor Joe Hayes, Pastor. Interment followed in Lucious Cemetery.

Pallbearers and flower bearers were family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers were Eureka Lodge #953.
