Mt. Olive holds homecoming service

The congregation and guests of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church held the church’s 15th Annual Homecoming service Sunday afternoon, October 28, and began a series of nightly revival services which concludes Wednesday night, October 31, at 7:30 p.m.

At Sunday’s service, the Rev. Dr. McNair Ramsey of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Vredenburgh, Ala., was the guest speaker. Homecoming theme was Experiences on the Journey Home.

Taking part in Sunday’s service were the following:

Deacons, guest deacons, guest choirs; Sis. Laura Abner Pettiway of El Bethel Holiness Church – Mistress of Ceremony; Sis. Betty Boggan – solo; Sis. Gereana Stargell – Welcome; Sis. Johnnie Mae Abner Davis, El Bethel Holiness Church – Response; Pastor Dan Abner, Elizabeth Holiness Baptist Church – solo; Eva Evelyn Louise Wesley Richardson of Moment of Truth Holiness Church, Century, Fla. – solo; Sis. Violet Jackson, New Birth Baptist Church, Pensacola – poem; Pastor Daewood Riley, New Calvary Holiness Church, Century – Words of Encouragement and Pulpit in Charge;

Sis. Barbara Poole Harris – Words of Appreciation; Pastor Dr. Monroe Tucker – closing remarks.

Concordia College alumni were invited to Mt. Olive’s homecoming service. Members present were Barbara Poole Harris, Eva Evelyn Louise Wesley Richardson, Kathleen Coley, Pastor Monroe Tucker, Concordia College Vice-President Rev. Dr. McNair Ramsey, and Sis. Laura Abner Pettiway.

Also attending was guest church Gaines Chapel AME.

The Rev. Dr. Monroe Tucker pastors Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Barbara Poole Harris served as homecoming chairperson, and Sister Betty Boggan as clerk / revival chairperson.
