Annie Pearl Nettles

Mrs. Annie Pearl Nettles, age 87, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Easter Shore Rehabilitation Center in Daphne, Ala. She was born in Frisco City, Ala. She had been employed at the Atmore Advance for thirty years and United Bank for fifteen years. She was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the senior choir, church mother and member of the Sunday school. She was an Eastern Star Missionary Society Trustee Board Member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Washington and Clone Brown; husband, Thomas Nettles; daughter, Resa Ann Braxton.

Mrs. Nettles is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth (Lee Roy) Mobley and Dorothy Nettles, both of Atmore; one son, John Nettles of Mobile, Ala.; three sisters, Letha Walker, Marjorie Brown and Johnnie Mae Rudolph, all of Atmore; one brother, Clarence Brown of Atmore.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist church with Rev. Isaac Bradley, Sr., Pastor, officiating and Rev. Alfonza Hires, eulogist. Interment will be held in Stallworth Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 2 until 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral chapel. Her body will lie instate at the church one hour prior to funeral services.

Walter Spencer Brooks
Mr. Walter Spencer Brooks, age 58, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Atmore Community Hospital. He was a native of Atmore and a 1974 graduate of Escambia County High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer Brooks and Hazel Brooks.

Mr. Brooks is survived by three sisters, Physel Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif., Risa Brooks of Atmore and Tameka Benjamin of Tensaw, Ala.; five brothers, Lester Brooks of Augusta, Ga., Jerry Brooks of Atmore, Kenneth Brooks and Steve Brooks, both of Montgomery, Ala. and Vincent Brooks of Miami, Fla.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 24, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center with Rev. Darryl North, Pastor, officiating. Interment was held in Stallworth Cemetery.

Glen Ralph Ward

Mr. Glen Ralph Ward, age 71, passed away at Helen Keller Hospital in Florence, Ala., Thursday, February 23, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was a member of the Kansas Air National Guard and was activated when the Pueblo was captured by North Korea. He served two years active duty in Korea.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Thelma Ward and one sister, Carol Estes.

Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Pamela of Florence; two sons, Kirk (Lori) Ward of Albuquerque, N.M. and Dustin Ward of Denver, Colo.; one step-daughter, Kymberly Lyon (Jim) Fissel, of Mounds, Okla; two sisters, Thelma (Don) Henriques of Wichita, Kan. and Myrna Monroe of Atmore, Ala.; two brothers, Loren (Julia) Ward of Joshua Tree, Calif. and Dennis (Ann) Ward of Wichita, Kan. and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. from Elkins Hermitage Funeral Chapel, Florence with the Rev. Greg Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, Ala. Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, Processing Center, P. O. Box 8911, Topeka, KS 66608-8911, or P.A.W.S., 2701 Mall Road, PMB 277, Florence, AL 35630.

Willie Lewis Rudolph
Mr. Willie Lewis Rudolph, age 81, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012 at his residence. He was a native of Atmore and a graduate of the Escambia county Training School. He was a retiree of Monsanto. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a longtime member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Mason.

Mr. Rudolph is survived by his wife, Freddie B. Rudolph of Jamaica, N.Y.; three daughters, Vickie M. Milton and Sherrie L. Rudolph, both of Rock Island, Ill. and Dierdre Knight of Atmore; three sons, Anthony C. Rudolph of Atmore, Michael G. Rudolph of Jamaica and Steve E. Rudolph of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Rutelia America of Atmore, Ester Jean Williams and Jean Graham, both of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, Willie James Rudolph of Reading, Pa.; twenty-nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Ray Palmore, eulogist and Rev. Isaac Bradley, Sr., host Pastor. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.

James Edward Gentry
Mr. James Edward Gentry, age 57, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away February 24, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Betty Lou and John Edwin Gentry and a brother Terry Dean Gentry.

Mr. Gentry is survived by his sister, Patricia Darlene Gentry; daughter, Tara Ann Gentry; sons, Jeremiah Egan Gentry, Joshua Evan Gentry, and James Ethan Gentry; nieces, Laura Michelle Gentry, Stacey Lynn Bailey and Alicia Nicole Yerg; nephews, Dustin and Drew Gentry; grandchildren, Brooklynn Gentry and Jacob Gentry; one great nephew, Michale Butler and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 27, 2012 at 1 p.m. from Enon Baptist Church with Rev. Chip Barbas officiating. Burial followed with full military honors at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Buddy Bethea, Larry Gibson, Tim Gentry, Randy Dortch, George Wetherbee, Roy Thomas and Zane Grey.

The family received friends Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 5 until 7 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Robert Lawrence “Robby” Quimby
Mr. Robert Lawrence “Robby” Quimby, age 45, of Niceville, Fla., formerly of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 in Houston, Texas. He was a Computer Scientist with Eglin Air Force Base. He was born in Monroeville, Ala. to Robert E. and Julianne Johnson Quimby. He was a graduate of Troy University. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid Auburn fan.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Minnie Lee Quimby, and Julius and Sybil Johnson.

Mr. Quimby is survived by his wife, Beth F. Quimby of Niceville; his parents, Bobby and Julie Quimby of Atmore; one daughter, Lauren Sanchez and husband, Nestor of Ocala, Fla.; one granddaughter, Soraya Grace Sanchez of Ocala; one brother, Toby Quimby and wife, Maggie of Atmore; three nephews, Blake, Brad and Bryant Quimby all of Atmore and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Woodrow Hudson and Rev. Jim Reece officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Chew Smothers, Richard Burdine, Sammy Lee, Glenn Wilson, Blake Quimby, Brad Quimby, Bryant Quimby, Scott Fuller and John Fuller.

The family received friends, Monday, February 27, 2012 from noon until service time at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Tommie Lewis Odom, Sr.
Mr. Tommie Lewis Odom, Sr., age 55, of Flomaton, Ala., passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC.

Claude W. Moye
Mr. Claude W. Moye, age 77, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012 at a Mobile, Ala. hospital. He was a native and resident of Robinsonville, Ala. for most of his life. He was a retired employee of Monsanto after 35 years of service and a retired farmer. He attended Robinsonville Baptist Church.

Mr. Moye is survived by his wife, Jeannine Moye of Century, Fla.; two sons, Mike and Barbara Moye of Robinsonville, Duff and Crystal Moye of Booneville, Ala.; a stepson, Ricky and Linda Rutherford of Perdido, Ala.; three daughters, Sherrin and Dan Thomas of Brewton, Ala., Suzanne and Scott Daniel of Mobile, Ala. and Mishalene and Charles Coker of Ft. Walton, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Kristi and Chris Taylor of Brewton; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three sisters, Gertrude Smith and Willanette Troutman, both of Atmore, Ala., Gladys Stanton of Robinsonville.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike McMorris and the Rev. Jerry Keese officiating. Burial followed at the Robinsonville Cemetery.

The family received friends Monday, February 27, 2012 between 6 and 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Chad Moye, Canyon Moye, Dex Daniel, Zack Coker, Jordan Coker, and Alex Coker.

Honorary pallbearer was Blake Daniel.

James Joseph Bagwell
Mr. James Joseph Bagwell, age 51, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Petty Eastside Chapel with burial in Pineview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 6 until 9 p.m.

Alberta Williams
Mrs. Alberta Williams, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at her residence.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time but will be announced at a later date by Christian Memorial Funeral Home.

Tommie Lewis Odom, Sr.
Mr. Tommie Lewis Odom, Sr., age 55, of Flomaton, Ala., passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012,

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Damascus Baptist Church, Flomaton.
