Kenneth “Kenny” Day
Mr. Kenneth “Kenny” Day, age 74, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at a Mobile hospital. He was a native and resident of McCullough, Ala. for most of his life. He was a veteran of the Korean War; a retired employee from Monsanto after 35 years; and an employee of the City of Atmore for 10 years. He attended the First Pentecostal Church of Bagdad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Owen and Berdie Marie Day and two brothers, J.B. Day and William G. Day.

Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Callie R. Day of McCullough; his son, Kenneth Nathan Nelson Day of Milton, Fla.; his daughter, Mandy Amanda Day of McCullough; a step-daughter by a previous marriage, Tonya Ann Sasser of McCullough; two step-daughters, whom he loved and respected very much, Tammy Grubbs of Milton and Monica Mack of Bagdad, Ala.; two step-sons, Bill Simmons and Charles Ervin Nelson, both of Milton,; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nephew, Terry Day of McCullough; niece, Teresa Johnson of Nokomis, Ala. and two sisters, Celia Barker of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Sylvia Godwin of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Powell, officiating. Burial followed at the McCullough Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, December 22, 2011 between 6 and 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home

Pallbearers were Melvin Middleton, David Hadley, Brandon Johnson, Bill Simmons, Ervin Nelson and Nathaniel Nelson.

Honorary pallbearer was Fred Peavy.

Mark S. Leslie
Mr. Mark S. Leslie, age 68, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at Atmore Community Hospital. He was a native of Atmore and had lived several years in Vero Beach, Fla. He had been employed by Swift Lumber Mill. He attended Ebenezer Lutheran School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Leslie and Dovie M. Leslie; two brothers, Charles and Robert E. Leslie.

Mr. Leslie is survived by his daughter and son; four sisters, Mary (Earl) Bradley, Willie Pearl McBride and Annie (Robert) Poole, all of Atmore and Flora (Bobby) Brown of Fort Valley, Ga.; two brothers, Aaron Leslie of Atmore and Edward Leslie of Vero Beach; step-mother, Laura B. Leslie of Atmore.

Memorial services will be held at a later date with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC in charge of all arrangements.

Willie Mack Dortch
Mr. Willie Mack Dortch, Sr., age 92, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at his residence. He was a native of Wilcox County (Camden, Ala.) and had been a resident of Atmore most of his life. He worked as a mechanical operator and a construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Dortch; daughter, Lucille Dortch; parents, George and Mandy Dortch; one grandchild; several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Dortch is survived by eight daughters, Willie Mae McDowell, Frances Jones, Betty Marshall and Barbara Dortch, all of Atmore, Nancy Dortch of Orlando, Fla., Jackie Brogden, Clara Curry and Helen Dortch, all of Fort Myers, Fla.; six sons, Willie M. Dortch, Jr. and Larry Simpson, both of Atmore, Willie A. Dortch, Willie G. Dortch, George L. Dortch and Willie M. Dortch, all of Fort Myers; four sisters, Clara Nettles and Ora D. Zemmons, both of Camden, Dorothy Dortch of Atmore and Leola Simpson of Century, Fla.; one brother, Jessie Lee Dortch of Pine Hill, Ala.; seventy grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Lighthouse Apostolic Holiness Church in Atmore.

Lena Pryor Folmar
Mrs. Lena Pryor Folmar, age 92, lifelong resident of Huxford, Ala., passed away Tuesday December 20, 2011 in Enterprise, Ala. She was retired as owner/operator of Folmar’s Grocery. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Robert Olen and Lillie Isler Pryor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Folmar; a brother, R.L. Pryor and a sister, Estelle Reynolds.

Mrs. Folmar is survived by two daughters, Kathy F. McKinley and husband, Danny of Huxford and Laura F. Peacock and husband, Don of Enterprise; four grandchildren: Cynthia Curenton and husband, Tim, Bryan Peacock and wife, Kristina, Stacey Poarch and husband, Tim all of Enterprise; Jessie McKinley Stephens and husband, Bradley of Andalusia; eight great-grandchildren, Aaron Curenton, Ashley Curenton, Adam Curenton, Hunter Peacock, Dawson Peacock, David Peacock, Caleb Poarch and Connor Poarch.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. from Huxford Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Wood officiating. Internment followed in Huxford Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Gerald Parmer, Olen Parmer, Brannon Parmer, Bryan Peacock, Aaron Curenton and Kevin Vickrey.

The family received friends Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Huxford Baptist Church one hour prior to service time.

Murray Alvin Daniels
Mr. Murray Alvin Daniels, age 98, of Huxford, Ala., passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in Bay Minette, Ala. He served in the United States Army during WWII where he was pinned Lieutenant by General George Patton. He also retired as Warden of Holman Correctional Facility, Atmore.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Daniels and a daughter Deborah Mathieu.

Mr. Daniels is survived by his son; Rev. Richard Daniels and his wife Rhonda of Bay Minette; a brother J.C. Daniels of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two grandsons Richard M. Daniels and wife April of Bay Minette and Timothy C. Daniels and wife Crystal of Baton Rouge, La.; two great-great-grandchildren Arianna Daniels and Jasmine Daniels of Bay Minette,

Funeral Services were held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. from Johnson Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Medley and Rev. Frank Manguno officiating. Burial followed in Huxford Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends Friday, December 23, 2011 from 10 until 11 a.m. service time from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel.

Linda Wiggins
Mrs. Linda Wiggins, age 63, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Jay, Fla. She was a native and lifelong resident of Century, Fla.

Mrs. Wiggins is survived by her husband, Randy Wiggins of Century; two daughters, Amanda Johnson of Flomaton, Ala. and Brandy Wiggins of Century; two grandchildren, Riley Johnson and Sierra Carnley; four brothers, Melvin Nelson, Thomas Nelson and Jimmy Nelson, all of Century and Freddie Nelson of Byrneville, Fla.; two sisters, Mickie Stokes of Gautier, Miss. and Terri Campbell of Flomaton.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Crary Memorial Cemetery.

James B. ”J.B.” Johnson, Sr.
Mr. James B. ”J.B.” Johnson, Sr., age 70, of Little River, Ala., passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 at his residence. He was a logger with Clayton Boone Logging Co. He was born in Little River to the late Clayton and Lonie Williams Johnson.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, of forty-six years, Dona L. Johnson of Little River; two sons, James Johnson and wife, Diane of McCullough, Ala., JoJo Johnson and wife, Pam of Mobile, Ala.; three daughters, Renee Johnson of Panama City, Fla., Tammy Pierce and husband, Tom of Molino, Fla., Stephanie Wilson and husband Roy of Grovetown, Ga.; one sister, Annette McCreary of Daphne, Ala.; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. from Little River Holiness Church with Bro. D.L. Harville and Bro. David Cooper officiating. Interment followed in Mamie’s Chapel Cemetery.

Michael Thomas Bray
Mr. Michael Thomas Bray, age 64, born in Atmore, Ala. and a resident of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He was a conductor with CSX Railroad. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the U. S. Army.

Mr. Bray is survived by his wife, Betty Elaine (Stewart) Bray of Bay Minette; two daughters, Tyra Bray Lacy and Karen Bray Russell, both of Bay Minette; his mother, Hazel Bartley Bacon of Bay Minette; grandson, Colin Duane Lacy of Bay Minette; his brother, Larry Guzzino of Dallas, Texas and sister, Barbara Thwing, Virginia Beach, Va.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 2 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church with the Reverend John Montalvo and the Reverend Otis Thames officiating. Interment will follow at New Life Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the U. S. Army team, Fort Rucker, AL.

The family received friends Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 6 until 10 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Michael Stewart, Todd Stewart, Chad Stewart, Nicholas Gray, Lance Ganey, Logan Ganey, Peter Guzzino and Michael Gray.

Ernest Lunsford “Buddy” Wilson
Mr. Ernest Lunsford “Buddy” Wilson, age 80, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at his residence. He was a retired farmer. He was born in Lenox, Ala. to the late Carnice and Sally Mae Lassitter Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Wilson; brothers, Luman Wilson, Houston Wilson, Clifford Wilson and Leslie Wilson; sisters, Rudean Walker and Flossie Condrey.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his sons, Lonnie Wilson. Donald Wilson and Tommy Wilson; three daughters, Alice Wilson, Diane Wilson and Mary Ann Wilson; one brother, Willis Wilson; three grandchildren, Tonya Wages, Michael Chastang and Jessica Wilson. two great-grandchildren, T.J. Wages and Trinity Wages.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Helton Haddock
Mr. Helton Haddock, age 73, of Oak Grove, Fla., passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 in Atmore, Ala. He was a chemical operator and supervisor with International Paper Co. He was born in Vernon, Fla. to the late Jack Easter and Annie Bell Curlee Haddock.

Mr. Haddock is survived by his wife, Helen M. Haddock of Oak Grove; three daughters, Gina Denise Vaughn (Phillip) and Linda Darlene Johnson (Larry Spaller) all of Oak Grove, Marilyn Peters of Bratt, Fla.; one son, Lester Hooper (Amanda) Monroeville, Ala.; six brothers, Wilton D. Haddock, Henry Elton Haddock, James Carlton Haddock, Curtis Cliffton Haddock, Donald Lee Haddock and Homer Preston Haddock; five sisters, Vydell Dyges, Myrtle M. Hodges, Lucille Odom, Luverne Phillips, and Joyce Summers; four grandchildren, Travis Wesley Johnson, Felishia Jade Seelig, Cody Helton Burroughs, Serina Kristen Johnson and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday December 29, 2011 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Butch Brown and Bro. Roy Chewing officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove cemetery.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Dora Mae Jones
Mrs. Dora Mae Jones, age 51, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011. She was born to Ella V. Carthon. She was a graduate of Southern Normal High School where she was a member of the band and a majorette. She was employed at Judy Bond Fashions for more than twenty years. She was a lifelong member of Second Saint Siloam Baptist Missionary Church.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband of thirty years, Guy M. Jones; three children, LaRodney (Shandrike) Michael and LaNesha Jones, all of Brewton; two grandchildren, Shauanathan O’Kyle Williams II and Ashauna Jones; God-children, Ty’Eisha Brooks and Demetris Preyer; mother, Ella V. Carthon of Brewton; special people, Joseph Johnson (Carolyn), Johnny M. McQueen and siblings; Angela Johnson and Tara Jay (Melvin) and Johnny M. McGlown (Tanya), all of Brewton; Tonya Jones (Alan) and Edward Johnson, of Birmingham; Nicole Brown (Derrick), Anthony McQueen and Leon McQueen all of N.C.; Ellis McGlown of Sacramento, Calif.; Lonnie McGlown of Oakland, Calif.; devoted best friend, Nikki Campbell; host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Willie J. Blue officiating. Internment followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Demetris Preyer, Willard McGlown, Ryhein Brown, James Howard, Jr., Jason Jones, Kyfus Dexter.

George E. Woods
Mr. George E. Woods, age 72, passed away Friday, December 16, 2011. He was born in Monroe County, Monroeville, Ala. to the late Willie and Mary Woods. He was a faithful attendant at Highway Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and five sisters.

Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, Minister Betty Woods; children, Shenna (Carthell) Forney, Shelia (Jesse) Smith, T. S. (Janet) Ingraham, Sara (Allen) Riley and Julia (Danny) Bradley, all of Brewton, Ala., Georgia (Frank) William, Willie (Odessa) Woods, Paul Woods, all of Monroeville, Ala.; one brother, Roosevelt (Kathleen) Woods of Pensacola; three sisters, Aurelia (Maurice Bullock, Millie (Jules) Shexnayder, all of San Diego, Calif., Vera Mae Flowers of Pensacola; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Second Shady Grove Baptist Church, Brewton, with pastor, James Taylor and Dr. Ruel Floyd officiating. Internment followed at Antioch Baptist Church #3 Cemetery, Monroeville.

Pallbearers and flower bearers were family and friends.

Bonnie Marie Klug
Mrs. Bonnie Marie Klug, age 76, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 in Century, Fla. She was a native and resident of Century for most of her life, and known as Granny Bonnie to everyone.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Dale Tamondong and her husbands, Francisco Garcia Tamondong and Rolland John Klug.

Mrs. Klug is survived by her son, Joey and Lita Tamondong of Lakeland, Fla., her daughter, Ginny Tamondong of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; three grandchildren, James Odom of Oakland, Calif., Christopher Byrd of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Chase Tamondong of Rogersville, Ala. and two great-grandchildren, James Odom and Neely Odom, both of Oakland.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the McCurdy Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 31, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
