Atmore was blanketed by 2 to 3 inches of snow last Friday. The snow was the first accumulation in this area since 1996.
Schools and several businesses closed for the day giving families the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the frozen precipitation. Several took advantage making snowmen and having snowball fights.
According to national weather reports, 49 of the 50 states received snowfall Friday.
Weather reports also called for a chance of snow in the Atmore area early Monday morning. However, snow didn’t materialize; maybe it’s the start of the next 14 year period without snow.
Pictured at top, Dani, 2, Macie, 4, and Jacelyn, 7, built two snowmen, one big, one little. The neat thing about snow on Friday, February 12, is that it was Dani’s birthday. What a great birthday present. By late afternoon, however, some of the snow was starting to melt. Jacelyn, Macie and Dani are the daughters of Jason and Brandy Chunn.
